8 months ago, I found this random post about "grounding" or "earthing" - basically connecting your body to the earth's electrical field. Sounded like complete woo-woo nonsense, but I was desperate.
Found these ReGrounded bed sheets with silver fibers that plug into your electrical outlet's grounding port (the round hole). The idea is that chronic inflammation creates positive electrical charge, and the earth's electrons neutralize it while you sleep. I know, sounds crazy.
Clinical research has shown that grounding (or earthing) — making skin-level contact with the Earth — can:
- Lower back pain and other pain around the body
- Reduce inflammation and swelling
- Improve blood flow and oxygenation
- Support deeper, more restorative sleep
- Normalize cortisol levels
- Speed recovery from injuries and muscle soreness
- Reduce chronic pain symptoms over time
First week, nothing. I felt stupid. But around day 10, I slept through the night without waking up from pain - hadn't happened in YEARS.
By week 3, the constant ache went from 8/10 to maybe 6/10. Now, 8 months later, I'm at 2-3/10 most days and some days I actually forget about it completely.
Last weekend I hiked 5 miles with my husband. FIVE MILES. I'm coaching soccer again. I tied my own damn shoes without thinking about it. I have my life back in ways I didn't think were possible.
